There are beneficial choices. There are wise choices and there are foolish choices. You can make one bad choice and pay for it for the rest of your life. You can also make a good choice that you thought was a good choice at the time but turned out to be a bad decision. Every choice is not a "God choice"...that is why you must seek God in your decision making to make sure that it lines up with His Will.
